ORGANIZATION

The SME Promotion and Development Office (SMEPDO) is the Secretariat of the SME and Productivity Promotion and Development Committee (SMEPDC) and serves as the NPO of Lao PDR under Decree No. 66/PM of the Prime Minister’s Office dated 5 February 2007.

SMEPDO has Technical Administrative and Department-equivalent status under the purview of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. At present, SMEPDO/LNPO consists of six divisions and has 34 staff. In addition, SMEPDONPO has a network linked to the provincial level to provide services when needed.

ACTIVITIES

To achieve its objectives, SMEPDO/LNPO engages in the following activities:

Promotion of Productivity and Quality:

  • Acts as a core productivity promoter for the country as a whole, conducts research, and organizes conferences, seminars, training courses, forums, and workshops for productivity enhancement.
  • Acts as a monitor and follows up the productivity movement and business environment nationwide.

Coordination and Project Implementation

  • Coordinates and implements APO projects with international partners and donors such as ASEAN, APEC, etc.
  • Leads various projects related to line ministries to improve productivity and raise the living standard in communities.

Training and Consultancy Service Programs

  • Provides training and consultancy service to enhance entrepreneurial management systems and competitiveness in local and international markets.
  • Publishes materials on concepts and practices of basic of management andproductivity promotion materials.
