Publications & Videos

Introduction

One of the key roles of the APO is to serve as a Clearing House of Information on Productivity. Very early on in its inception, an active publication program was undertaken to propagate and disseminate information on the productivity concept, its socio-economic significance, and the tools and techniques for its enhancement. The books published included reports of proceedings of meetings and conferences, original works in English, and English translation of noted Japanese titles in the fields of agriculture, management, production engineering, and technology. They were largely for circulation to APO members.

In 1971, a commercial publication program was launched to make APO books available to a wider public. Since then the APO has produced a total of 82 titles under this program. Some of them have become definitive works in their respective fields. Among them are Guide to Quality Control by Kaoru Ishikawa, The 5S's by Takashi Osada, and the APO-ILO joint publication Productivity and Quality Management: A Modular Programme, to name just a few. The usefulness of APO books is evidenced by the number of titles that has been translated into other languages, like Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, Finnish, French, Hebrew, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Malay, Mongolian, Persian, Russian, Spanish, and Thai.

With the collaboration of the Japan Productivity Center for Socio-Economic Development, the APO also produces a number of training videos on topical subjects relating to productivity, agriculture, environment, product quality, production management, service industries and the public sector. They are appropriate for self-learning or for use in training programs.

This catalogue is produced with the believe that APO's books and videos are important and useful, and we would like to bring them to the attention of as many people as possible. We are also looking for book distributors to represent us in countries where APO books have yet to establish a presence. Established book distributors are invited to contact the APO Administration and Finance Department.

If you wish to obtain any of the books or videos, there are order forms for your use, together with instructions on payment. We have a network of national book distributors throughout Asia-Pacific and in other parts of the world through whom you can also obtain APO books. A list of who they are and where they are located, including contact information, is provided here. As for videos, kindly place your order directly with the APO Administration and Finance Department.
