GREEN PRODUCTIVITY
seeks to enhance business competitiveness and profitability through
increased savings and less production inputs, thereby conserving resources
and protecting the environment shows that productivity improvement and
environmental preservation can have a harmonious relationship for the
survival and prosperity of mankind.
THE 2ND WORLD CONFERENCE ON GREEN PRODUCTIVITY
The World Conference on Green Productivity was launched in 1996 by
the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) to find practical and attractive
approaches for industries to deal with both productivity and environmental
protection for sustainable development.
The first conference, held in Manila, saw the adoption of the Manila
Declaration on Green Productivity by over 32 countries. Since then, the GP
concept has received good understanding and strong support with
applications in such areas as management systems, appropriate technology,
occupational health and safety, and energy issues all over the Asian region.
In the 2nd World Conference on Green Productivity, APO will pursue
discussions and sharing on green productivity as a response to global
environmental problems. It takes off from the September 2002 Johannesburg
World Summit on Sustainable Development that aimed to assess global
change resulting from efforts to reconcile the impact of human socio-
economic activities on the environment and vice-versa.
