SUMMARY:Workshop on True Value and Cost Accounting in Organic Agriculture
DESCRIPTION:The pandemic caused abrupt changes in people’s lives\, healthy food has never been more important\, and consumers have increasingly sought out organic labels (Organic Trade Association US\, 2021). However\, some stakeholders remain narrowly focused on crop productivity and short-term profits\, overlooking significant damage to the environment\, soil\, climate\, biodiversity\, rural communities\, and public health. Social\, environmental\, and economic benefits should be calculated using a common framework to allow for comparisons. \nThis workshop will cover methodologies for true value and cost accounting\, benefits\, and examples in organic agriculture and show how they can be compared with the performance of other production systems in APO members. \nFor more details please click on PN.
