SUMMARY:Renewable Energy for Rural Areas
DESCRIPTION:This P-Talk discusses how the awareness and adoption of renewable energy can be disseminated in rural areas\, taking APO demonstration projects in Serang and Sorong\, Indonesia\, as examples. Joanna Chen shares the experience of setting up demonstration solar power sites to address issues of rural electrification. These projects also developed training curricula on solar energy\, technologies\, and off-grid photovoltaic systems to build the capabilities of local talent and sustain endeavors to promote Green Productivity. \nPlease click here to watch. \nSubscribe to our APO YouTube channel for more videos and updates on our activities. \nFor any inquiries\, please write to: p-talk@apo-tokyo.org.

SUMMARY:Biodigesters and Green Productivity
DESCRIPTION:This P-Talk discusses biodigester systems that convert manure and other biowaste into biogas to provide households with clean cooking fuel\, thereby reducing exposure to indoor pollution. The units result in decreased use of traditional fuel such as wood and carbon emissions. The bioslurry is then used as organic fertilizer for farming and reduces the water required for agriculture. The approach addresses the key Green Productivity themes of resource recycling\, green energy\, green factories\, and agroinnovation. Shuvasish Bhowmick of ATEC Australia International also speaks on the impact of biodigesters on clean cooking\, the health and livelihoods of women and girls\, and reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. \nPlease click here to watch. \nSubscribe to our APO YouTube channel for more videos and updates on our activities. \nFor any inquiries\, please write to: p-talk@apo-tokyo.org.

SUMMARY:Smart Healthcare
DESCRIPTION:This P-Talk shares the practical experience of a university hospital in I.R. Iran in improving health outcomes utilizing timely\, reliable health data. It highlights how managers of healthcare organizations optimize the use of integrated\, comprehensive information to increase the quality and productivity of health services and make evidence-based decisions through the deployment of an integrated health information system called Hospital Intelligent Management (HIM). \nDr. Alireza Zali\, Chancellor\, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences\, details the productivity benefits from the implementation of such smart healthcare management systems. \nPlease click here to watch. \nSubscribe to our APO YouTube channel for more videos and updates on our activities. \nFor any inquiries\, please write to: p-talk@apo-tokyo.org.

SUMMARY:Data Analytics for Fishery Productivity
DESCRIPTION:This P-Talk highlights smart technologies introduced to coastal fisheries in Japan. Information such as boat location and catch is collected automatically or manually and used for visualizing fishing grounds\, estimating marine resources\, etc. Dr. Masaaki Wada\, Professor\, Future University Hakodate\, Japan\, is adapting such smart technologies into a new form of “marine_IT”. In this P-Talk\, he guides viewers on using smart technologies for making fisheries sustainable. \nPlease click here to watch. \nSubscribe to our APO YouTube channel for more videos and updates on our activities. \nFor any inquiries\, please write to: p-talk@apo-tokyo.org.
