SUMMARY:Training Course on Innovative Technologies in Vegetable Farming
DESCRIPTION:Asian countries produce more than three-quarters of the world’s vegetables. They and other producers worldwide need to dramatically increase vegetable yields to meet the nutritional needs of a growing population exceeding nine billion by 2050 (FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific). Many Asian countries face difficulties in increasing vegetable production\, improving quality\, and reducing operating costs due to a lack of information and skills\, resources\, infrastructure\, climate changes\, and policy and support systems. Innovative technologies in vegetable farming can improve productivity\, stabilize farmers’ management\, and maximize their profits. \nThis training course will examine the benefits\, potential\, impacts\, and successful models of innovative vegetable farming to meet the conditions and needs of APO members. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Training Course on Nurturing Creative Industries
DESCRIPTION:Creative and cultural industries contribute to the global economy\, accounting for 3.1% of worldwide GDP and supporting 6.2% of all employment (UNESCO\, 2022). These industries span diverse sectors such as advertising\, arts\, crafts\, design\, fashion\, performing arts\, publishing\, R&D\, software\, and toys and games\, collectively generating nearly 50 million jobs globally. Despite their economic importance and potential for socioeconomic development\, these industries face challenges such as the high level of informality within these sectors\, calling for robust legal frameworks to protect both labor and creative content\, gender equality\, and weak ecosystems to support SMEs. \nThis training course is a continuation of the workshop on the Future of the Creative Economy in 2023. It will equip participants to strengthen creative economies in APO members by learning about policies\, ecosystems\, and strategies to maximize their potential and address inherent issues for the sustainable\, inclusive growth of the creative sector. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Development of Productivity Practitioners for the Youth
DESCRIPTION:The Development of Productivity Specialists is an APO’s flagship program to create productivity experts in members. The program has long been associated with NPO development\, as most participants are professional NPO staff. It also strengthens networks among NPOs. \nIn 2023\, the APO expanded the beneficiaries of the program by targeting the youth to provide opportunities for young professionals and those working with young people to embrace the productivity culture and understand the concept\, methods\, tools\, and techniques for productivity enhancement. The OECD reported in 2023 that those with more education are more likely to get and keep a job\, learn new skills on the job\, and earn more money. Educating young people is a powerful tool for achieving economic prosperity and reducing inequality. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Training Course on Building Community-driven Farm Schools
DESCRIPTION:Labor productivity is the most critical factor to improve productivity in all sectors including agriculture. Two key factors that can affect labor productivity are advances in technology and improvements in education and training. While training and education aimed at improving agricultural productivity and technology are led by the government\, NGOs\, and agricultural cooperatives\, the challenge is that most farmers in the Asia-Pacific operate on a small scale with limited access to and opportunities for such training opportunities. \nIn addition to training platforms at national and regional levels\, CDFS are a viable alternative. They include schools sponsored and managed by local communities\, employing experienced local farmers as trainers. The training opportunities also contribute to strengthening community bonds and attracting and retaining youth in sustainable rural enterprises. The scope of CDFS has been further expanded with recent progress in smart agriculture\, agri-entrepreneurship\, and sustainability. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Training Course on Gamification and Game Design for Customers and Employee Engagement
DESCRIPTION:Gamification involves applying game design principles and features in nongaming contexts\, like education\, customer service\, or marketing\, to boost user engagement and motivation. It encompasses game creation and development\, incorporating mechanics\, aesthetics\, and storytelling to create captivating\, immersive experiences. The integration of gamification and game design principles in customer and employee engagement contexts can lead to increased motivation\, engagement\, and productivity. Harvard Business Review reported that 89% of employees believed they would be more productive if their work environments were more gamified (2024). This can be achieved by creating engaging\, enjoyable experiences encouraging customers and employees to participate and achieve their goals. The availability of new tools and platforms has made it easier for businesses and organizations to create engaging\, motivating experiences for customers and employees. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Training Course on Building Reliable Supply Chains
DESCRIPTION:Reliable supply chains evolve with the efficient management of material\, product\, and information flows. The rapid development of technology in supply chain management using blockchains\, environment-friendly technologies\, AI\, and automation contribute to optimizing productivity and achieving competitive advantage. However\, these technologies expose enterprises to issues related to data security\, integration complexity\, high implementation costs\, skill gaps among workers\, and technological capability gaps among suppliers and partners. \nA 2023 report by McKinsey & Company stated that autonomous supply chain planning could increase revenue by up to 4% and lower costs by up to 10%. Meanwhile\, ADBI research recommended that Asian economies build digital backbones and talent to stay abreast of rapid changes in technology and develop supply chain resilience. This training course will enhance the ability to manage reliable manufacturing supply chains with the support of advanced technology. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Workshop on the Business Model Canvas for Startups and Entrepreneurs
DESCRIPTION:Innovation and entrepreneurship are major drivers of competitiveness and productivity. Ideas and entrepreneurial minds are what businesses and governments endeavor to capture and retain to pursue innovation; however\, as identified in an OECD report in 2023\, a common challenge entrepreneurs and startups face is the opportunity and capability to examine\, articulate\, and convey their ideas before resources are committed and leveraged to realize their visions. Entrepreneurs need not only financial and policy assistance but also practical tools and methodologies to embody their visions and ideas. \nThe Business Model Canvas is a strategic management and entrepreneurial tool that helps to visualize key elements of business ideas\, validate and refine assumptions\, and identify potential risks or gaps in the ideation process. Since its creation\, it has been widely adopted by businesses and applied in various sectors and aspects of operations. Familiarizing entrepreneurs and organizations supporting startups and innovation with this tool and trends of entrepreneurship development can contribute to the creation of nurturing ecosystems for entrepreneurship and startups. \nFor more details please click on PN.
