SUMMARY:Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability Applied in Aquaculture
DESCRIPTION:Aquaculture and fish farming play vital roles in meeting the global demand for fish products\, with production levels steadily rising to cater to a growing population. However\, they face challenges such as ensuring environmental sustainability\, improving operational efficiency\, and complying with regulations. There is growing interest in utilizing technologies to enhance sustainability and efficiency in aquaculture operations. \nAI offers a variety of applications\, including predictive analytics\, image recognition\, and autonomous systems\, which can optimize different aspects of aquaculture management\, boost production efficiency\, and reduce labor costs (FAO\, 2024). Additionally\, sustainability is now a crucial consideration in aquaculture due to concerns about environmental impacts and resource conservation. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Workshop on Promoting Sustainable\, Inclusive Tourism
DESCRIPTION:The UNWTO defines sustainable tourism as tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic\, social\, and environmental impacts\, addressing the needs of visitors\, the industry\, the environment\, and host communities. Inclusive tourism ensures equal opportunities for all social groups among visitors and host communities. Despite growing awareness\, with three in four tourists prioritizing environmental concerns\, the sector contributes over 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions and 10% of global energy consumption (WEF\, 2025). Therefore\, efforts to enhance the awareness and implementation of sustainable tourism should be continued. \nThe APO has promoted sustainable tourism for decades under GP initiatives\, exposing member economies to best practices and successful case studies. Among members\, Nepal exemplifies tourism as a driver of sustainable\, inclusive development. Sharing part of the Himalayan biodiversity hotspot\, its tourism industry contributes 6.7% to GDP. The workshop will explore practical strategies for the tourism industry in APO member economies to become more sustainable and inclusive. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Training Course on Green Productivity
DESCRIPTION:After the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil\, the APO conceptualized GP to guide enterprises in enhancing productivity\, quality\, and profitability with the least environmental impact. APO capacity-building initiatives in this training course aim to build a critical mass of GP practitioners to create multiplier impacts at local level. This training course is a prerequisite for becoming APO Certified GP Specialists\, while providing practical insights on GP methodology and implementation. It also supports the key role of the APO as an institution builder. Recently\, the GP 2.0 roadmap was published to address emerging sustainability challenges and the evolving technology landscape. \nTo link online learning with practical exposure\, this face-to-face course targets participants who performed well in the online training course on GP in April 2025. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Training Course on Tourism 4.0 for Inclusive\, Productive Rural Development
DESCRIPTION:Industry 4.0 has driven digital transformation across sectors\, including tourism. Tourism 4.0 emerged from integrating technologies such as AI\, robotics\, the IoT\, and big data into tourism\, enabling digitalization and automation in areas like personalized marketing\, smart destination management\, and AR experiences\, aiming to create a more connected\, immersive\, sustainable tourism experience (ADB\, 2023). \nMany rural regions in APO members face economic stagnation\, outmigration\, and environmental challenges. Tourism remains a key driver of rural development\, and leveraging Tourism 4.0 can boost productivity\, enhance competitiveness\, and foster sustainable\, inclusive growth. \nThailand\, a leading tourism hub\, advances digitalized\, sustainable\, inclusive tourism through its “Thailand 4.0” policy and the Third National Tourism Development Plan (2023–27). This project will equip participants with knowledge of Tourism 4.0 technologies\, tools\, policies\, and strategies for effective implementation in their local contexts. \nFor more details please click on PN.
