SUMMARY:Training Course on Tourism 4.0 for Inclusive\, Productive Rural Development
DESCRIPTION:Industry 4.0 has driven digital transformation across sectors\, including tourism. Tourism 4.0 emerged from integrating technologies such as AI\, robotics\, the IoT\, and big data into tourism\, enabling digitalization and automation in areas like personalized marketing\, smart destination management\, and AR experiences\, aiming to create a more connected\, immersive\, sustainable tourism experience (ADB\, 2023). \nMany rural regions in APO members face economic stagnation\, outmigration\, and environmental challenges. Tourism remains a key driver of rural development\, and leveraging Tourism 4.0 can boost productivity\, enhance competitiveness\, and foster sustainable\, inclusive growth. \nThailand\, a leading tourism hub\, advances digitalized\, sustainable\, inclusive tourism through its “Thailand 4.0” policy and the Third National Tourism Development Plan (2023–27). This project will equip participants with knowledge of Tourism 4.0 technologies\, tools\, policies\, and strategies for effective implementation in their local contexts. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Workshop on the Circular Economy through Digital Solutions
DESCRIPTION:A CE decouples growth from resource consumption by keeping materials in use\, reducing waste\, and regenerating natural systems. The World Economic Forum predicts significant challenges from the current linear economic model over the next 20 years. However\, digital technologies like IoT sensors\, blockchains\, AI/ML\, high-performance computing\, additive manufacturing\, and big data analytics have enabled innovative methods to maximize CE potential\, as seen in projects like Plastics Recovery Insights Steering Model (PRISM) by the Alliance to End Plastic Waste and Kabadiwalla Connect in India. While digitalization offers opportunities for resource efficiency\, challenges include high initial costs\, data security concerns\, and digital waste risks. Success requires collaboration among policymakers\, businesses\, and communities to ensure equitable digital infrastructure access\, develop regulations\, and integrate CE principles into digital transformation strategies. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Workshop on Driving Business toward ESG and the SDGs
DESCRIPTION:SMEs play a pivotal role in economies\, comprising over 90% of all businesses and significantly contributing to employment and innovation. However\, integrating ESG principles and aligning with the SDGs present notable challenges for these enterprises. According to a 2022 OECD report\, SMEs often struggle with limited resources\, insufficient access to sustainable finance\, and a lack of expertise in implementing sustainable practices. Additionally\, a 2025 UNCTAD report highlighted that the complexity of international sustainability standards and the pressure from larger corporations for sustainability disclosures add to the burdens faced by SMEs. To address these challenges\, this workshop will provide participants with the knowledge to navigate the technical\, financial\, and policyrelated aspects of ESG- and SDG-driven business models. \nFor more details please click on PN.
