SUMMARY:Capacity-building Program on the APO Industry 4.0 and Artificial Intelligence Framework
DESCRIPTION:The APO COE on IT for Industry 4.0\, established in 2017\, promotes the adoption of Industry 4.0\, AI\, and related digital technologies for productivity improvement through a range of capacity-building\, research\, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. In 2025\, activities focused on developing the APO I4AI Framework\, together with Need and Readiness Self-assessment (NRSA)\, Diagnostic Assessment Framework\, training manual\, assessment toolkit\, and online platform. The framework enables organizations to assess their digital readiness\, identify capacity gaps\, and develop targeted action plans to support responsible digital transformation. \nThis activity\, under the annual Action Plan 2026-27 of the APO COE on IT for Industry 4.0\, will disseminate the framework and associated outputs while strengthening the capacity of NPOs and partner organizations to apply the framework across APO member economies. Delivered through five batches of four-day online sessions\, the program will cover the fundamentals of Industry 4.0 and AI\, responsible AI in manufacturing\, the APO I4AI Framework\, diagnostic assessment\, individual and group-level self-assessment\, case studies\, group exercises\, and actionable recommendations. \nFor more detail please click here.

SUMMARY:Conference on MSME Excellence and Supplier Development
DESCRIPTION:This conference aims to strengthen MSME competitiveness and productivity by promoting regional knowledge exchange\, policy dialogue\, and collaboration among APO member economies in line with the APO–Cambodia Strategic Partnership Program (SPP). The conference supports Cambodia’s efforts to strengthen the MSME ecosystem\, improve enterprise competitiveness in priority value chains\, and enhance regional cooperation for sustainable productivity growth. \nThe conference will bring together policymakers\, productivity organizations\, MSME support institutions\, business associations\, industry leaders\, development partners\, researchers\, and representatives from APO member economies to exchange experiences\, successful policies\, and practical approaches for strengthening MSME competitiveness and supplier development. \nThrough keynote presentations\, panel discussions\, country presentations\, and interactive dialogue\, participants will discuss emerging regional and global trends affecting MSMEs\, including enterprise productivity\, supplier development\, quality standards and certification\, digital transformation\, innovation\, and value chain integration. The conference will also showcase successful policy initiatives\, institutional support mechanisms\, and enterprise case studies that contribute to resilient\, competitive MSMEs. \nSpecial attention will be given to strengthening collaboration among governments\, productivity organizations\, the private sector\, and development partners to foster innovation ecosystems and improve MSME participation in domestic and regional supply chains. The conference will provide opportunities for networking\, partnership building\, and identifying areas for future regional cooperation under the APO framework. \nThe conference will conclude with a high-level discussion summarizing key policy recommendations and collaborative actions to support MSME productivity enhancement\, supplier development\, and sustainable economic growth across APO member economies. SUMMARY:Workshop on Quantification and Visualization of CH4 Emissions in Agriculture and Carbon Credit Development through Alternative Wetting and Drying
DESCRIPTION:Launched in 2023\, the APO COE on Climate-smart Agriculture (CSA)\, hosted by the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO)\, Japan\, set among its first objectives the visualization of agricultural GHG emissions and the strengthening of APO members’ capacity to design and implement effective mitigation strategies. In 2024\, efforts focused on CO2 through soil carbon sequestration modeling\, laying the foundation for regional capacity building. In 2025\, activities expanded to N2O emissions through meta-analysis and quantification while introducing carbon credit methodologies for biochar. Building on these initiatives\, the 2026 program focuses on CH4 emissions from rice cultivation\, a major source of agricultural GHG emissions in the region\, while strengthening members’ capacity to quantify\, analyze\, and visualize emissions and assess mitigation outcomes. The workshop in Tsukuba will also address emerging needs and practical challenges in developing high-integrity carbon credits through AWD implementation\, including data requirements\, baseline setting\, monitoring\, reporting\, and verification (MRV)\, and effective communication of results. \nFor more detail please click here.
