SUMMARY:Training Course for Assessors of the Green Productivity Specialist Certification Program
DESCRIPTION:The CB Development Program assists NPOs or affiliated organizations in becoming APO-accredited CBs to operate certification schemes of productivity specialists. A CB must build up a pool of qualified assessors to ensure the quality of certified candidates who apply for accreditation. APO-GPS 201:2019 Certification Scheme and Competency Standard for Green Productivity Specialists is operated by APO-accredited CBs. CBs conduct documentation verification\, examination\, desktop assessment\, face-to-face panel interviews\, and evaluation of submitted GP reports before issuing certification to candidates. \nTo strengthen CBs’ capacity\, this course aims to develop assessors in APO members under APO-GPS 201:2019 by providing the required skills\, knowledge\, and ability while maintaining the highest standards in conducting assessments. Participants are expected to continue serving CBs as internal or external assessors after completion of the training course. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Multicountry Observational Study Mission on Service Innovation
DESCRIPTION:Cultivating a culture of innovation is a key to enhancing productivity. It is essential for businesses to contribute new value to consumers\, users\, and society in changing market conditions. Agility in response to the pandemic\, introducing digitalization\, and reshaping business models for sustainability all contribute to a culture of innovation. Innovation requires a holistic mindset in tackling environmental concerns\, sustainability\, and social well-being. \nOne way to nurture the culture of innovation is through adopting design thinking approaches\, which is a holistic\, intuitive\, and customer-focused problem-solving approaches to maximize impact and profit for shareholders\, according to the McKinsey report in 2023. An article in the Harvard Business Review in 2023 highlighted design thinking as a way to generate broad commitment to change by involving customers and other stakeholders in problems and solutions. Another approach is developing national policies to encourage open innovations\,\nemphasizing investment in startups. \nUnderstanding these driving forces for enhancing creativity and employee engagement can result in more resilient business models. This study mission will examine methodologies to create an innovation culture by focusing on design thinking approaches and design-driven company culture. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Workshop on Innovative Public Procurement
DESCRIPTION:Public-sector organizations purchase goods and services to provide utilities to citizens. The market cannot always meet society’s needs\, and solutions are not sufficiently effective\, too expensive\, or do not yet exist. It is therefore necessary to promote innovative procurement by contracting services\, negotiating with market vendors to meet evolving needs\, and using government funds to meet citizens’ needs while increasing productivity. \nThere is now a consensus that public procurement must be open to competition and operate at the highest level of integrity. Stakeholders view public procurement as a strategic government function and a public-sector management tool with direct impacts on the quality and quantity of services provided to citizens. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Training Course on IoT Applications for SMEs
DESCRIPTION:Connecting machines and devices physically and digitally is the foundation of smart manufacturing and one of the first steps in digital transformation. The IoT can help to collect and share data generated in all business processes and is effective in monitoring quality\, optimizing operations\, and thus improving productivity. The adoption of the IoT has become an indispensable step for businesses to stay competitive. \nAs IoT technologies become more accessible\, SMEs are in better positions to embrace simple\, effective IoT applications. However\, many do not have enough expertise to deploy IoT technologies or strategies for using data and connectivity\, as indicated in a 2022 WEF report. Assisting SMEs in understanding IoT technologies and initiating IoT adoption is thus necessary for effective digital transformation in industries. \nThis training course aims to share trends and examples of IoT applications in SMEs and enhance participants’ understanding of how the IoT can be used to strengthen their productivity. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Workshop on Food Innovation
DESCRIPTION:Progress in processing technology\, biotechnology\, genetics\, and nutritional science is driving food innovation\, enabling the food sector to become more productive in today’s challenging environment. \nThose innovations are impacting the entire food industry. New forms of food have been developed such as meat analogues\, algae\, and insects as new protein sources as well as functional food with specific nutrients. To plan strategies for long-term sustainable food supplies in the AsiaPacific\, current developments and future trends must be considered by consolidating innovations from various perspectives. Developing countries\, however\, face difficulties in achieving innovation-based transformation due to a lack of information and skills\, low investment\, insufficient infrastructure\, and weak business systems. \nThis workshop will examine case studies of recent and future food innovations and analyze opportunities to support and accelerate them in APO members. \nFor more details please click on PN.
