SUMMARY:Training Course on Productivity Measurement for Digitalized SMEs
DESCRIPTION:Productivity measurement is a process of identifying the appropriate metrics and calculating their results to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of resource use. While digitalization offers many benefits to SMEs such as improved operations\, reduced costs\, and enhanced\ncustomer experience\, productivity measurement methodologies should be reviewed to reflect the impact of technological improvements. \nThe pandemic highlighted the importance of agility\, resilience\, and continuous learning for SMEs to adapt quickly to changing\ncircumstances\, adopt new technologies\, and measure productivity in real time to remain competitive. It also created a divide between SMEs with access to digital technologies and those without. Remote work and flexible working arrangements make it more difficult to measure\nproductivity accurately\, as traditional measures such as hours worked are less relevant. Therefore\, new approaches to measuring productivity in digitalized SMEs will be explored in this training course. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Workshop on Public Service Innovation in the New Normal
DESCRIPTION:The fundamental concept of innovation is the introduction of something new and relevant\, perhaps contrary to established norms or customs. For public-sector organizations operating in the new normal\, innovation means modernizing processes and enhancing the quality of life for citizens. Citizens now expect more from their governments. The ways they interact with their governments have changed as a result of technology\, giving rise to more complex demands (UN/DESA\, 2020). \nCreative strategies are needed in the public sector as a result of these raised expectations\, new challenges brought on by complicated problems\, and financial constraints. \nGiven this situation\, the delivery of public services should be innovated to ensure that governments are responsive and have crisis management procedures in place along with the necessary data and intelligence to act effectively and efficiently. This workshop will explore how to employ more innovation initiatives in public services. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Workshop on Productivity Enhancement for Women Entrepreneurs
DESCRIPTION:In the last decade\, a growing number of women entrepreneurs in the Asia-Pacific has reshaped the business landscape. Some women entrepreneurs successfully overcame obstacles to forge their own entrepreneurial paths. However\, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (2022) reports that on average women are less likely than men to start and succeed in businesses regardless of their interest in entrepreneurship. The issue was exacerbated by the pandemic. Women entrepreneurs suffered greater sales decreases compared with businesses owned by men (International Financial Corporation\, 2022). \nMitigating negative conditions\, narrowing the gender gap\, and eliminating factors that hold back women entrepreneurs are crucial. Appropriate policy interventions should be in place to assist women entrepreneurs. This workshop will showcase effective support schemes and policy practices to address challenges and aid women entrepreneurs in enhancing productivity and developing successful businesses. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Workshop on Industrial Ecosystems for Digital Transformation
DESCRIPTION:Since the Industry 4.0 concept emerged\, APO members have been undertaking digital transformation and establishing conducive ecosystems. One common strategy is promoting digitalization of manufacturing and SMEs with the assistance of technology providers\, business advisers\, research institutes\, and other partners to create a conducive environment for digital transformation. \nAs digital technologies become more affordable\, industrial clusters and value chains also evolve. According to an International Data Corporation analysis in 2022\, a flexible industry ecosystem of partners with necessary skills\, resources\, and abilities is critical to ensure the growth and stability of businesses and their ongoing digital transformation. \nAs industry landscapes become more complicated\, dynamic\, and connected\, this workshop will provide references for digital transformation strategies and how organizations can leverage industrial ecosystems and their stakeholders for sustained transformation and higher productivity. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Training Course on Smart Manufacturing Productivity Specialists
DESCRIPTION:SM refers to the integration of advanced technologies and data analytics into manufacturing to optimize productivity\, efficiency\, and quality. An APO assessment of SM in 2020 found that the industrial structures of most members posed challenges for the transition to Industry 4.0. It is hard for MSMEs to define the starting point for the SM transformation. Combined efforts by governments and companies are thus needed to achieve digital transformation. \nOne strategy is to build the capacity of experts and professionals who can provide assistance and guidance to industry. The APO has conducted numerous capacity-building projects for productivity specialists. Since digitalization is becoming a priority for industry\, this project is the latest initiative to expand the role of productivity specialists by equipping them with knowledge of SM. With the support of the COE on SM in the ROC\, this course will be the starting point for the APO to develop more specialists in both productivity and digitalization. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Training Course on Knowledge Transfer to Improve Agricultural Productivity
DESCRIPTION:The value of agricultural production in APO members has reached approximately USD 1 trillion in recent years (FAO\, 2021). Progress in R&D by agricultural research institutes and organizations has played an important role in supporting continuous growth in production and productivity in the sector. \nAgricultural Knowledge and Information Systems (AKIS) support the sharing of knowledge among relevant stakeholders. While technologies and methodologies have evolved\, not all farmers in APO members are equipped to adopt and utilize them. There are several reasons for this\, but one constraint is the lack of structured\, robust knowledge transfer schemes to disseminate knowledge\, know-how\, and skills from research organizations to farming communities. \nThis training course will cover methodologies for knowledge transfer and technology dissemination among farmers\, examine key success factors from case studies\, and localize successful transfer schemes to meet the conditions and needs of member economies. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Transforming Tourism Postpandemic
DESCRIPTION:Tourism is one of the world’s major economic sectors\, yet its susceptibility to crises like pandemics is undeniable. COVID-19 not only caused a sharp decline in tourism revenue and productivity but also reshaped its operations as well as customer behavior and preferences. With the lifting of travel restrictions\, the industry is rebounding but facing challenges including labor shortages\, economic downturns\, and increasing global geopolitical instability. However\, the pandemic also served as a wakeup call to the industry\, opening new opportunities for its transformation to higher productivity growth. \nRohizam B Md Yusoff\, Champion\, Tourism Productivity NEXUS\, Malaysia Productivity Corporation\, shares insights into the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on tourism and strategies to make it more resilient\, sustainable\, and productive through innovation\, digitalization\, and partnerships in the postpandemic era. \nPlease click here to watch. \nSubscribe to our APO YouTube channel for more videos and updates on our activities. \nFor any inquiries\, please write to: p-talk@apo-tokyo.org.
