SUMMARY:Capacity Building of NPOs in New Digital Systems
DESCRIPTION:The APO Strategic Digital Capability (SDC) Plan 2021–25 strengthens the digital capability of the Secretariat to improve operations and services to members. The SDC Plan guides the digitization process of the Secretariat by integrating core functions through a common platform in line with the APO Vision 2025 strategic thrust of achieving operational and institutional excellence. \nIn 2022\, the Secretariat implemented the enterprise resource planning system SAP Business ByDesign (ByD) for integrated project management and finance and budget management functions (phase 1). The customer relationship management system Salesforce was implemented in 2023 for expansion to APO members and participants’ and resource persons’ information management (phase 2). Both are integrated to maximize operational efficiency. This training course will develop the capacity of NPOs to operate the participants’ and resource persons’ information management system. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Multicountry Observational Study Mission on Smart Poultry Farming
DESCRIPTION:The UN FAO reported in 2019 that the global demand for livestock products was anticipated to double by 2050\, mainly in developing countries. The sector must therefore meet future demand\, ensure consistent quality\, and achieve sustainability without causing irreparable environmental damage. \nPoultry is a critical segment to enhance productivity in livestock farming because of the growing demand for its meat and eggs and increasing market value in the Asia-Pacific region. Dairy farming is also a critical segment considering market demand and involvement of small farmers as the majority of producers in the region. Productivity in these two subsectors must therefore be improved. \nSmart technologies in poultry\, dairy\, and other livestock management are evolving\, primarily in large cooperatives. Further efforts are required for their adoption among small farmers who often lack financial resources and know-how. This study mission will examine how to promote smart livestock management in APO member economies. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Training Course on Regenerative Farming
DESCRIPTION:Regenerative farming is an integrated approach to soil\, plants\, the environment in general to restore climate stability and healthy soil\, end world hunger\, and rebuild deteriorated social\, ecological\, and economic systems. The ADB listed regenerative farming as one of five key areas that support recovery from the impact of pandemic through greener development. Other areas are healthy\, productive oceans\, sustainable urban development and transport models\, circular economy models\, and renewable and efficient energy. \nMany Asian countries face difficulties in promoting regenerative\, environment-friendly\, sustainable farming due to a lack of information and skills\, resources\, infrastructure\, and policy and support systems. Regenerative farming improves land quality by using technologies and methods that revitalize the soil and environment and improve the overall ecosystem. \nThis training course will cover the principles\, approaches\, impacts\, and successful models of regenerative farming to meet the conditions and needs of APO members. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Workshop on Technological Capacity Enhancement of Businesses
DESCRIPTION:The Fourth Industrial Revolution\, led by digitalization\, connectivity\, and the internet\, has brought significant challenges and opportunities to businesses. According to a WEF survey in 2021 on SMEs in ASEAN members\, more than 85% of SME owners considered digitalization crucial for business performance and that digitalization had a “flywheel” effect that facilitated upgrading because of internalized technological competency and its benefits. \nHowever\, SMEs are usually constrained by the lack of awareness\, strategies\, resources\, and technical capacities\, requiring assistance to initiate meaningful digital upgrading in response to trends in the environment and build capabilities in management and adoption of technologies. \nThis workshop will provide references for digital transformation strategies to strengthen the resilience and productivity of businesses. \nFor more details please click on PN.
