Many Asian countries face difficulties in increasing vegetable production\, improving quality\, and reducing operating costs due to a lack of information and skills\, resources\, infrastructure\, climate changes\, and policy and support systems. SUMMARY:Training Course on Nurturing Creative Industries
DESCRIPTION:Creative and cultural industries contribute to the global economy\, accounting for 3.1% of worldwide GDP and supporting 6.2% of all employment (UNESCO\, 2022). These industries span diverse sectors such as advertising\, arts\, crafts\, design\, fashion\, performing arts\, publishing\, R&D\, software\, and toys and games\, collectively generating nearly 50 million jobs globally. Despite their economic importance and potential for socioeconomic development\, these industries face challenges such as the high level of informality within these sectors\, calling for robust legal frameworks to protect both labor and creative content\, gender equality\, and weak ecosystems to support SMEs. \nThis training course is a continuation of the workshop on the Future of the Creative Economy in 2023. DESCRIPTION:The Development of Productivity Specialists is an APO’s flagship program to create productivity experts in members. The program has long been associated with NPO development\, as most participants are professional NPO staff. It also strengthens networks among NPOs. \nIn 2023\, the APO expanded the beneficiaries of the program by targeting the youth to provide opportunities for young professionals and those working with young people to embrace the productivity culture and understand the concept\, methods\, tools\, and techniques for productivity enhancement. The OECD reported in 2023 that those with more education are more likely to get and keep a job\, learn new skills on the job\, and earn more money. SUMMARY:Training Course on Building Community-driven Farm Schools
DESCRIPTION:Labor productivity is the most critical factor to improve productivity in all sectors including agriculture. Two key factors that can affect labor productivity are advances in technology and improvements in education and training. While training and education aimed at improving agricultural productivity and technology are led by the government\, NGOs\, and agricultural cooperatives\, the challenge is that most farmers in the Asia-Pacific operate on a small scale with limited access to and opportunities for such training opportunities. \nIn addition to training platforms at national and regional levels\, CDFS are a viable alternative. They include schools sponsored and managed by local communities\, employing experienced local farmers as trainers. The training opportunities also contribute to strengthening community bonds and attracting and retaining youth in sustainable rural enterprises.
