SUMMARY:Training Course on Productivity-linked Wage Systems
DESCRIPTION:PLWS link wages to productivity and performance. This ensures that wage increases are directly proportional to enhancements in productivity\, allowing employees to receive a fair share of the gains resulting from improved performance and productivity growth. This approach has been applied in various sectors and has gained trust in enhancing productivity and equity across organizational and societal levels. For example\, the Malaysian government applied PLWS to mitigate income disparities while increasing productivity\, aiming to elevate the employees’ GDP compensation share from 37% in 2020 to 40% by 2025\, along with profit–wage correlation and union involvement (PwC 2022). \nHowever\, designing and implementing an effective PLWS requires a thorough understanding of its principles\, benefits\, and potential challenges. This training course aims to bridge knowledge gaps and promote PLWS as a means to achieve sustainable productivity growth and employee welfare. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Training Course on Building Social Innovation Systems
DESCRIPTION:Social innovation systems refer to interconnections in the development\, diffusion\, and utilization of new methods for addressing social issues and challenges. Stronger social innovation ecosystems facilitate better diffusion of ideas to tackle issues\, resulting in improved citizens’ welfare. This in turn contributes to productivity growth. \nA strong innovation ecosystem fosters entrepreneurship\, business creation\, and expanded employment opportunities. When new ideas are transformed into business creation\, challenges can be overcome through innovation and entrepreneurship. Social innovation systems involve actors and elements from different sectors supported by legal and cultural norms\, infrastructure\, and other elements related to developing\, diffusing\, and utilizing innovation to address social issues. \nBased on the above\, this training course will provide a comprehensive understanding of how to build structured\, effective social innovation systems. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Training Course on Green Productivity
DESCRIPTION:Businesses today must strike a balance between meeting end-users’ requirements and minimizing the environmental impacts of their operations. With increasing carbon emissions\, consumer awareness\, stringent regulations on disclosing efforts to mitigate climate change\, and global competition\, enterprises need to strengthen their triple bottom lines of quality\, profitability\, and environmental protection. \nThe APO conceptualized GP in 1994 to guide enterprises in decoupling their operations from environmental degradation. Through numerous capacity-building endeavors in the last three decades\, participants across APO members were trained to become GP practitioners assisting enterprises at local level. \nThis training course is a prerequisite for candidates to become APO Certified GP Specialists. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Workshop Meeting of Heads of APO Certification Bodies
DESCRIPTION:Since launching the APO-AB in 2018\, seven CBs have been accredited and five NPOs or their affiliated organizations are in various stages of development to become CBs. The role of the APO-AB has become more significant in catering to needs of CBs so that they remain abreast of the latest CB standards compatible with international practices. \nIn the aftermath of COVID-19\, the APO-AB took a number of initiatives including harmonization of APO productivity specialist certification schemes\, revision of CB assessment standards\, development of a CB impartiality plan\, technical support for CB promotion\, standardization of CB certificates\, and\, most importantly\, the establishment of an MRA Framework for cross-border recognition of certified productivity specialists. \nThe 6th Annual Meeting of the APO-AB Council approved the organization of an inaugural workshop meeting of Heads of CBs for sharing experiences and challenges faced and enhancing mutual cooperation among CBs. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Workshop on the Regulatory Sandbox Mechanism for Productivity Policies
DESCRIPTION:Regulatory sandbox mechanisms are special forms of experimental regulations allowing for the creation of specific legal regimes for new products and services\, enabling experiments with their practical usage within certain restrictions. Among member economies\, these mechanisms have been implemented in the ROC\, Fiji\, India\, Indonesia\, Malaysia\, Japan\, the ROK\, the Philippines\, Singapore\, Sri Lanka\, Thailand\, Turkiye\, and Vietnam to foster the development of digital innovations and fintech. \nThe introduction of regulatory sandboxes has shown positive effects\, such as increased access to capital\, improved business survival rates\, and increased patenting. The implementation of regulatory sandboxes requires appropriate management\, legal support\, and evaluation mechanisms. \nDifferent approaches to regulatory experiments have been taken\, including regulations on specific issues\, pilot models of innovative technologies\, and creating universal mechanisms for real-life experiments. Regulatory sandboxes are recognized as effective instruments to foster innovations in the digital economy. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Training Course on Innovative Dairy Farming
DESCRIPTION:The OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2023–2032 reported increased demand for imported dairy products in Asia. This trend is driven by economic and population growth\, with India and Pakistan being the key drivers. In addition\, the strong growth in global dairy consumption is also expected in Southeast Asia. However\, traditional dairy farming in most Asian countries remains a challenge for growth. Outdated methods result in low productivity\, poor animal health\, and environmental impacts. \nThis training course will explore innovations in dairy farming\, such as advances in breeding\, feeding\, health management\, and technology\, which have significant potential to address those challenges and drive sustainable growth. In addition\, learning about innovative dairy-farming technologies and sharing best practices from leading dairy countries are crucial to improve productivity. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Training Course on Greening Supply Chains through Industry 4.0
DESCRIPTION:Numerous internal and external factors such as risk management\, regulations\, brand image\, consumer demand\, and innovation motivate large businesses to work with suppliers to improve business operations\, integrate sustainability principles\, and foster innovation to design ecofriendly products and services. Greening of supply chains calls for developing and implementing GSC programs\, collaborative partnerships with vendors\, and focusing on reverse logistics and product stewardship. \nI4.0 technologies like AI\, additive manufacturing\, the IoT\, and radiofrequency identification (RFID) enable greening in manufacturing\, design\, logistics\, warehousing\, and carbon emission management. Leveraging these technologies individually or in combination has positive implications for productivity\, resource optimization\, workforce skills\, and environmental performance. This is in line with the APO Green Productivity concept. This training course will cover integration of I4.0 technologies into GSC frameworks. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Multicountry Observational Study Mission on Implementing the Sufficiency Economy Theory to Sustain Community Development
DESCRIPTION:Introduced by the late King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej in the height of Thailand’s economic crisis in 1997\, the sufficiency economy is a philosophy based on the fundamental principles of Thai culture. It is a method of economic development based on moderation\, prudence\, and social immunity which uses knowledge and virtue as guidelines for living. These economic principles and approaches have gained recognition globally as a model for sustainable development. \nIn 2023\, the Thailand International Cooperation Agency reported that 23\,000 Thai villages had adopted this economic theory and it had spread to neighboring countries such as Lao PDR. In the agrifood sector\, current overproduction\, oversupply\, and overconsumption of agricultural products cause environmental pollution\, depletion of natural resources\, and market price fluctuations that affect incomes and livelihoods in rural communities. \nThe sufficiency economy theory holistically addresses these community issues by moderating and diversifying production while balancing environmental and social resilience. This study mission will observe and learn about the successful adoption of the theory through best practices. \nFor more details please click on PN.
