SUMMARY:Training Course on Green Productivity
DESCRIPTION:Industrialization is a pathway toward economic development as it generates employment\, increases exports\, and raises standards of living. Emerging economies in the Asia-Pacific are undergoing industrialization but have yet to reap the benefits of economic prosperity. The current business scenario faces unprecedented challenges including climate change\, high carbon emissions\, pollution\, and natural resource depletion. Enterprises need to adopt appropriate ways to grow sustainably. \nThe APO developed the GP concept to ensure that gains in productivity\, quality\, and profitability also improve social well-being and environmental protection. To build a pool of credible GP experts in member economies\, the APO developed a Certification Scheme and Competency Standards for GP Specialists. This training course is a prerequisite for candidates to become certified GP Specialists. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Service Quality Standards for the Public Sector
DESCRIPTION:This P-Talk highlights the critical relationship between productivity and the development of service quality standards in government services. It explores the concepts\, tools\, and strategies necessary to create and institutionalize these standards\, ensuring that they become an integral part of the culture within public-sector organizations. By embedding service quality into organizational practices\, government agencies can enhance operational efficiency\, support business performance\, and ultimately improve overall productivity. \nRichard E. Mallory\, Principal Consultant at Mallory Management\, USA\, demonstrates how citizen and business satisfaction surveys can be leveraged as productivity-enhancing tools. These surveys help government agencies pinpoint priority areas for service improvement\, driving higher efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery. A key focus of the discussion is the ANSI G1 standard\, which serves as a benchmark for aligning service quality with productivity objectives\, ensuring both citizen satisfaction and improved business outcomes. \nPlease click here to watch. \nSubscribe to our APO YouTube channel for more videos and updates on our activities. \nFor any inquiries\, please write to: p-talk@apo-tokyo.org.

SUMMARY:Workshop on Productive Livestock Farming for Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions
DESCRIPTION:Global livestock production contributes approximately 14.5% of all anthropogenic GHG emissions\, with cattle being the largest contributors\, followed by pigs\, buffalo\, and chickens (FAO\, 2023). Enhanced productivity in livestock farming through innovation is vital to reducing these emissions and achieving sustainability in the sector. APO members face significant challenges in balancing livestock productivity with environmental sustainability. High GHG emissions from traditional farming practices\, combined with resource constraints\, necessitate a shift to more efficient\, eco-friendly methods. Addressing these issues requires the adoption of innovative approaches tailored to the specific conditions of each member. \nThis workshop will discuss the latest advances in livestock farming\, including innovative technologies\, practices\, policies\, and ecosystem development to support GHG emission reduction. Participants will explore strategies for implementing these innovations in APO members. \nFor more details please click on PN.

SUMMARY:Conference on Organic Agriculture for Biodiversity and Sustainable Development
DESCRIPTION:Organic agriculture is a holistic production management system that promotes and enhances agro-ecosystem health\, including biodiversity\, biological cycles\, and soil health. This is achieved using agronomic\, biological\, and mechanical methods\, as opposed to synthetic materials\, to meet specific needs within the system. \nTo address global challenges such as climate change\, biodiversity loss\, and food security\, the ways food is produced\, processed\, and consumed must be reviewed. Organic agriculture is one approach to address this by eliminating the use of synthetic inputs to reduce environmental impacts\, improve sustainability\, and promote site-specific management practices based on local resources. However\, to promote organic agriculture on a wider scale\, policies\, ecosystems\, and technologies are needed. This conference will examine how organic agriculture could contribute to biodiversity and sustainability and discuss practical solutions and strategies for APO members. \nFor more details please click on PN.

DESCRIPTION:This P-Talk highlights the implementation of kaizen\, the Japanese business philosophy that focuses on the process of continuous improvement\, in Africa. With the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)\, kaizen has been introduced to the African continent and is currently widely practiced by industries. The APO invited the winners of the Africa Kaizen Award 2024\, an annual award jointly organized by JICA and the African Union Development Agency under the framework of the Africa Kaizen Initiative\, to share insights on their kaizen journeys and business transformation. \nPlease click here to watch. \nSubscribe to our APO YouTube channel for more videos and updates on our activities. \nFor any inquiries\, please write to p-talk@apo-tokyo.org.
