Dr. Indra spoke as a panelist in the UN Open Source Week session “Strategic Independence across Layers of Governance.” The discussion explored how open source can support digital capacity, public sector innovation, digital public infrastructure, and strategic autonomy across levels of governance.

In his remarks, Dr. Indra highlighted the role of open source as both a technical and governance tool. He emphasized that open-source approaches can help strengthen institutional capacity, support productivity growth, and enable cross-cultural knowledge sharing across APO member economies. The session featured a keynote by Veronica Gaffey of the European Commission and brought together speakers from the Asian Development Bank, Eclipse Foundation, Linux Foundation, and Open Invention Network.

Dr. Indra also participated as a panelist in the LinkedIn side event on preparing countries for an AI future held at LinkedIn’s New York office. The session brought together global perspectives on AI and the future of work, focusing on workforce transformation, skills development, the IT talent pipeline, and the role of governments, education institutions, and employers in preparing societies for an AI-driven future.

The session featured speakers from UN ODET, Cloudera, LinkedIn, and the International Telecommunication Union. During the discussion, Dr. Indra shared perspectives from APO member economies on translating AI readiness into practical productivity gains while advancing digital transformation and inclusive development.
