APO and OECD Explore Innovation for Public Sector Productivity

APO Secretary-General Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata and Angela Hanson, Innovation Lead, Observatory of Public Sector Innovation, OECD Public Governance Directorate, exchanged insights on public sector productivity through innovation at the APO Secretariat.

On 3 September 2026, APO Secretary-General Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata met with Angela Hanson, Innovation Lead at the OECD Observatory of Public Sector Innovation, at the APO Secretariat to exchange views on public sector productivity and innovation.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for fruitful discussions and the exchange of views on the priority programs and initiatives of the APO and OECD, particularly in the areas of public sector innovation and productivity. The discussion highlighted the shared interests of the two international organizations in advancing productivity performance and innovation of governments in their respective member economies across Asia and Europe.

Secretary-General Dr. Indra shared details of the APO’s Strategic Partnership Program under the new APO Vision 2030, emphasizing its member-driven approach to program development and delivery aimed at enhancing the overall productivity performance of member economies.

Meanwhile, Hanson shared the OECD’s recent initiatives to strengthen public sector productivity through innovation, including the application of AI in the public sector. The discussion also covered some country cases, programs, and activities, as well as potential areas for future collaboration that align with the strategic priorities and future outlook of both organizations.

The meeting underscored the common interests of the APO and OECD in promoting public sector productivity through innovation and identified opportunities for continued knowledge exchange and collaboration through capacity building and research in this important area.

Also present in the meeting were Ryosuke Yamauchi, Policy Analyst at the OECD Public Governance Directorate, and Kenjiro Taniguchi, Deputy Director at the Administrative Management Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Government of Japan.
