On 21 April 2026, APO Secretary-General Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata held a courtesy meeting with H.E. Abdul Hameed, Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan, at the APO Secretariat in Tokyo. During the meeting, they discussed ongoing cooperation and future areas for collaboration.
Both sides reaffirmed the long-standing relationship between the APO and Pakistan, which was one of the eight founding members of the APO in 1961, and expressed appreciation for recent collaborative efforts such as the Conference on Green Productivity 2.0 held in Pakistan in November 2025. The key areas discussed for potential future cooperation included energy efficiency, digital transformation, and the application of Industry 4.0 technologies, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises.
The APO Secretariat also briefed Ambassador Hameed on the new APO Vision 2030 and the transition to the member-focused Strategic Partnership Program and a results-based management approach. The new vision emphasizes closer alignment between APO programs and member economies’ national development priorities to ensure that APO support remains relevant and impactful.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing their commitment to further strengthen cooperation and explore new opportunities for collaboration to support sustainable productivity growth.
