Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Secretary-General Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ambassador Tuy Ry at Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Tokyo, 28 November. During the meeting, Ambassador Tuy warmly welcomed and congratulated Secretary-General Dr. Indra on his appointment as the 13th Secretary-General of the APO.
Secretary-General Dr. Indra gave an overview of APO activities and country-specific activities in Cambodia including recent cash grant program supported by the Government of Japan, with the emphasis on SMEs in the food and agriculture sector which had been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. He also expressed sincere appreciation to APO Director for Cambodia Phork Sovanrith, the APO Chair for 2022–23, for his support for APO activities.
Ambassador Tuy stated that productivity was a key component under the Cambodia Industrial Policy 2020–25, and the New Investment Law enacted in 2021 included processing agricultural products as one of the 18 priority sectors. Recognizing the importance of the APO, Ambassador Tuy offered his support for further promotion of APO activities in Cambodia.
Ambassador Tuy and Secretary-General Indra concluded their meeting by confirming that they would continue close communication.
