Pakistan’s manufacturing sector faces continuing challenges in improving energy and resource efficiency, reducing production costs, and strengthening international competitiveness. The textile and apparel industry, which accounted for approximately 56% of the country’s total merchandise exports in FY2024–25, plays a particularly important role in the national economy. However, inefficient energy use and resource-intensive production processes remain significant concerns for industrial enterprises.
This Training of Trainers (ToT), organized in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), will contribute to addressing these challenges by strengthening industrial productivity through more efficient use of energy, water, materials, and other production inputs. Improving resource efficiency offers a practical pathway to lower production costs, strengthen export competitiveness, and respond to increasingly stringent sustainability requirements in global markets.
The ToT will equip automotive- and textile-sector practitioners with practical resource efficiency and GP tools to identify production losses, prioritize feasible improvements, and develop enterprise-level action plans covering energy, water, materials, waste, and process efficiency.
By developing trainers capable of transferring these approaches across enterprises, the activity aims to strengthen workforce capabilities and contribute to improvements in resource efficiency and productivity. It will also help prepare participating enterprises for Pakistan’s planned mandatory resource-efficiency audit framework, while supporting the transition toward greener, more competitive manufacturing.
