Global livestock production contributes approximately 14.5% of all anthropogenic GHG emissions, with cattle being the largest contributors, followed by pigs, buffalo, and chickens (FAO, 2023). Enhanced productivity in livestock farming through innovation is vital to reducing these emissions and achieving sustainability in the sector. APO members face significant challenges in balancing livestock productivity with environmental sustainability. High GHG emissions from traditional farming practices, combined with resource constraints, necessitate a shift to more efficient, eco-friendly methods. Addressing these issues requires the adoption of innovative approaches tailored to the specific conditions of each member.
This workshop will discuss the latest advances in livestock farming, including innovative technologies, practices, policies, and ecosystem development to support GHG emission reduction. Participants will explore strategies for implementing these innovations in APO members.
