Since 1994, the APO has actively promoted eco-products under its Green Productivity (GP) Program. The APO’s GP Program has two flagship projects: the annual Eco-products International Fair (EPIF) and development of the APO Eco-products Directory and Eco-products Database, which are conducted with the cooperation of the GP Advisory Committee (GPAC) comprising representatives of leading Japanese corporations with years of experience in managing environmental issues.
Private-sector corporations, particularly leading Japanese corporations, have demonstrated excellence in terms of environmental technology, management philosophy as well as innovative approaches. In order to tap the knowledge and expertise of Japanese corporations, the GPAC, comprising high-level representatives of leading Japanese corporations, has recently been established. The GPAC has identified greening supply chains as an important mechanism for enhancing the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector in the Asia-Pacific region, which is the manufacturing center of the world.
