On 27 June 2025, Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata, Secretary-General of the APO, welcomed Urtnasan Tsetsegmaa, State Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia, and his delegation to the APO Secretariat in Tokyo. Secretary-General Dr. Indra and State Secretary Urtnasan underscored that climate change is a shared, complex issue requiring regional collaboration. They emphasized the importance of tailored environmental standards for the Asia-Pacific region and APO member economies, given their cultural and ecological diversity.

During the meeting, the APO presented an overview of its operations and introduced the Green Productivity (GP) 2.0 ecosystem, which aims to interlink tools and frameworks to drive sustainability and productivity. The Mongolian delegation shared the country’s environmental priorities and introduced the government’s new Standardized Environmental Integrated Program, which aims to improve governance and climate resilience.

A key point of discussion was the importance of validation by government and institutions to assure the quality of data behind tools such as the GP Mapping and GP Rating system. Secretary-General Dr. Indra highlighted the importance of trustworthy, officially approved data from member economies, with the Mongolian Ministry of Environment and Climate Change’s contribution expected to play a vital role. State Secretary Urtnasan also highlighted the importance of future collaboration on environmental issues, and both parties affirmed their commitment to collaborate through joint projects and the capacity development of experts and specialists in environmental and climate change sectors.
