APO Discusses Productivity and Global Challenges with International Partners

On 16 December 2025, APO Secretary-General Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata welcomed Dr. Wempi Saputra, Executive Director of the World Bank Group, and Dr. Arief Ramayandi, Senior Research Economist at the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), to the APO Secretariat in Tokyo for a meeting to expand the APO’s cooperation with international organizations.

They discussed the importance of creating effective engagement models that uphold the relevance and contributions of international organizations.

Executive Director Dr. Wempi shared updates on the World Bank’s strategic direction, including recent changes to its vision and mission, while Secretary-General Dr. Indra explained the APO’s shift to member-driven Strategic Partnership Programs under the APO Vision 2030. Senior Research Economist Dr. Arief outlined the ADBI’s role in supporting productivity-led development and informing decision-making across the Asia-Pacific region through research, policy analysis, and evidence-based knowledge.

The meeting also covered potential areas for collaboration, including Green Productivity and AI, and concluded with a shared recognition of the importance of continued dialogue and collaboration among international organizations to support member economies in navigating economic, technological, and environmental transitions.
