APO Green Productivity 2.0 Conference in Lahore Advances Regional Agenda for Sustainable Industry

5 Dec 2025

The Asian Productivity Organization (APO), in collaboration with Pakistan’s National Productivity Organization (NPO Pakistan), Ministry of Industries and Production, and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), successfully conducted the International Conference on Green Productivity 2.0 at LUMS on 28–29 November 2025. The two-day event convened senior government leaders, industry representatives, academics, and experts from APO member and nonmember economies, making it one of Pakistan’s most significant international platforms on sustainable industrial transformation.

The conference featured high-level plenaries and sector-focused discussions aligned with the Green Productivity 2.0 framework, covering sustainable industrial development, circular economy innovation, energy transition, digital productivity tools, and sectoral green initiatives.

In his keynote speech, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary emphasized the importance of Green Productivity in driving Pakistan’s long-term economic growth, while Minister of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr. Musadiq Malik highlighted the importance of cleaner and more efficient systems amid shrinking global climate finance. Shaista Pervaiz Malik, Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan and Convener of the Parliamentary Taskforce on SDGs, opened the conference and stressed the need to balance economic progress with environmental and social priorities. Representing the APO Secretariat, Md Zainuri Juri commended Pakistan’s strong leadership in advancing the Green Productivity agenda. Leaders from LUMS and NPO Pakistan—including LUMS Energy Institute Senior Advisor Dr. Fiaz Chaudhry, LUMS Provost Dr. Tariq Jadoon, and NPO Pakistan Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry—underscored the value of collaboration between government, academia, and industry in accelerating sustainable industrial transformation.

In conjunction with the conference, the APO National Award for 2023 and 2024 was conferred on distinguished individuals from the public and private sectors for their contributions to advancing productivity in Pakistan. The award recognizes productivity champions whose leadership, innovation, and excellence inspire broader adoption of productivity-led transformation and is administered annually by NPO Pakistan.

The conference concluded with a strengthened regional commitment to support Pakistan’s transition toward a low-carbon, innovation-driven industrial economy and to deepen cross-sectoral collaboration in pursuit of sustainable, productivity-led growth across the Asia-Pacific.
