APO Secretary-General Visits Sri Lanka to Strengthen National Productivity Initiatives

The Secretary-General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata, visited Sri Lanka from 15 to 16 May 2025 to reaffirm the APO’s commitment to enhancing productivity across member economies and supporting national initiatives.

During the visit, Secretary-General Dr. Indra held a high-level meeting with Sunil Handunneththi, Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, and Thilaka Jayasundara, Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development and APO Director for Sri Lanka, to discuss ongoing collaboration and explore further avenues for capacity building and a national productivity roadmap in the country. He also visited the National Productivity Secretariat (NPS), the key implementing agency for APO activities in Sri Lanka, and was briefed on national programs aligned with the APO’s strategic priorities.

A highlight of the visit was Secretary-General Dr. Indra’s keynote address at the official launch of the National Productivity Awards 2025–26, an event officiated by the Honorable Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya. The award aims to recognize and promote productivity excellence across public and private sectors, including in schools. In his remarks, Secretary-General Dr. Indra commended the Government of Sri Lanka for its unwavering commitment to productivity-driven growth and acknowledged the role of such recognition programs in inspiring innovation, efficiency, and productivity across various sectors.

The visit by Secretary-General Dr Indra underscored the APO’s ongoing support for Sri Lanka’s productivity advancement and further strengthened ties between the APO Secretariat and national stakeholders.
