The General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM) is Turkiye’s principal institution for agricultural research, employing over 2,000 staff across 49 research institutes nationwide. To ensure that research and development outputs generate tangible benefits for society, TAGEM established a Technology Transfer Office (TTO).
From 3 to 7 November 2025 in Ankara, Turkiye, the APO held the second phase of the Technical Expert Services project on increasing the productivity and efficiency of the Technology Transfer Office. Hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MoAF), the training was a follow-up to the first phase conducted in November 2024. It aimed to strengthen the Technology Transfer Office’s capacity in in intellectual property rights, research and development commercialization, and technology transfer.
Two resource persons, one from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and one from the University of London, the United Kingdom, led interactive sessions on the fundamentals of intellectual property rights, licensing, commercialization strategies, and AI-related intellectual property issues. The program gathered 30 participants from public institutions and research bodies, fostering practical learning and collaboration across sectors. One participant’s decision to pursue commercialization funding highlighted the tangible impact of the training in advancing innovation and intellectual property management capacity in Turkiye.
