The China Productivity Center, the Republic of China (ROC), held the Workshop on Driving Business toward ESG and the SDGs on 29 July–1 August in Taichung, the ROC. This workshop was an APO Green Productivity 2.0 initiative and aimed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles and align with the SDGs to achieve sustainable growth.
The objectives were to enhance participants’ understanding of the technical, financial, and policy-related aspects of ESG- and SDG-driven business models for SMEs and of how to quantitatively measure and analyze the status of companies. Twenty-two participants from 12 member economies attended the workshop.
Sessions were delivered by three resource persons from the ROC, Japan, and Singapore. They provided an overview of ESG and SDG global trends and business impacts; gave lectures on identifying ESG-related challenges faced by SMEs, such as cost, limited resources, and compliance; outlined the sustainability reporting process; and shared best practices in sustainability disclosure. On the third day, all participants visited the Zero Carbon Technologies and Services Alliance at Tunghai University’s Smart Carbon Neutral Campus and Artificer Intelligence Group at Central Taiwan Science Park.
