Productivity Talk on 21 December 2021

The APO Presents Productivity Talk on Marine Debris and Sustainability on 21 December 2021

At least 14 million tons of plastic end up in the oceans every year, and plastic makes up 80% of all marine debris found from surface waters to deep-sea sediments. Marine species ingest or are entangled by plastic debris, negatively affecting the sustainability of the ocean environment and reducing fishery productivity. Dr. Hideshige Takada, Professor, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, analyzes current marine plastic pollution and its effects on humans and ecology. Recommendations for cleaning up and reducing oceanic plastic waste are discussed.
