Nepal Commences Stakeholder Engagements to Elevate National Productivity

23 Jul 2025

The National Productivity and Economic Development Centre under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies of Nepal, in collaboration with the APO, conducted stakeholder consultations from 14 to 18 July 2025 to support the development of the National Productivity Master Plan for Nepal.

Bringing together representatives across government, the private sector, academia, civil society, and development partners, the consultation aimed to collaboratively define Nepal’s mid- to long-term productivity goals, strategies, and initiatives. A key focus was identifying priority sectors and binding constraints to productivity growth, ensuring the plan reflected Nepal’s current economic realities and opportunities.

Facilitated by resource persons from DevTech Systems, the process employed key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and a field visit to validate diagnostic findings and refine proposed actions. The sessions also gathered feedback on the proposed establishment of a productivity task force to coordinate the national productivity enhancement efforts.

Outcomes from the consultation are expected to guide the drafting of the National Productivity Master Plan, which is targeted for completion later this year. The plan will also serve as a strategic framework to support Nepal’s transition from a least developed country to developing country in 2026.

Consultative meetings were conducted with stakeholders in Nepal.
