Workshop on AI Management Systems Equips APO Members for Responsible AI Adoption

22 Sep 2025

The Commission for Standards, Metrology, and Quality of Vietnam (STAMEQ) held the face-to-face Workshop on AI Management Systems in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 9–12 September 2025. Nineteen participants from 14 APO member economies attended the workshop, which focused on the application of the ISO/IEC 42001:2023 standard as a framework for accountable, risk-aware AI adoption. The workshop aimed to enhance inclusive, innovation-led growth by equipping participants with the tools to balance AI governance and innovation while ensuring security, transparency, and fairness.

Delivered by four resource persons from Hong Kong, Poland, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam, the sessions covered AI’s role in organizational efficiency, risk management, workflow optimization, and scalable, responsible integration. Participants were trained to conduct AI system impact assessments, enabling them to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks while aligning AI projects with organizational goals. Practical case studies and a replicable framework that APO members can adapt for their local contexts were developed during the event.

“The knowledge gained has given us the confidence to integrate AI responsibly, ensuring both productivity and trust in our digital initiatives,” remarked one participant. This project directly supported the APO Vision 2025 by strengthening APO members’ capacity in ethical AI deployment, future readiness, digital transformation, and sustainable development, particularly in bridging infrastructure and service gaps in developing economies.
