Nature-positive Forest Value Chains for Sustainable Productivity

This P-Talk highlights the significance of sustainable solutions for nature-positive economies. Biodiversity sustains human life and underpins our societies. Over the past 50 years (1970–2020), the average size of monitored wildlife populations has shrunk by 73%. “Nature positive” refers to the global societal goal to “halt and reverse nature loss by 2030 on a 2020 baseline, and achieve full recovery by 2050” (Nature Positive Initiative). In this P-Talk, Makiko Soma, WWF Japan, focuses on forest management and introduces recent government policies and business practices. She also discusses the keys to achieving nature-positive forest commodity value chains for sustainable development and shares the implications for long-term productivity.
