Transforming Tourism Postpandemic

Tourism is one of the world’s major economic sectors, yet its susceptibility to crises like pandemics is undeniable. COVID-19 not only caused a sharp decline in tourism revenue and productivity but also reshaped its operations as well as customer behavior and preferences. With the lifting of travel restrictions, the industry is rebounding but facing challenges including labor shortages, economic downturns, and increasing global geopolitical instability. However, the pandemic also served as a wakeup call to the industry, opening new opportunities for its transformation to higher productivity growth.

Rohizam B Md Yusoff, Champion, Tourism Productivity NEXUS, Malaysia Productivity Corporation, shares insights into the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on tourism and strategies to make it more resilient, sustainable, and productive through innovation, digitalization, and partnerships in the postpandemic era.
