Model factories with industrial infrastructure create a unique ecosystem blending theory and practice for capacity building. Designed to train industry workers, especially SMEs, they enhance understanding of applications of productivity, lean manufacturing, digital transformation, and Industry 4.0 in real shopfloor settings. Since SMEs represent over 90% of industries in APO members, assessing model factories’ role in boosting SME productivity and competitiveness is vital. It is also timely to adopt a common framework among APO members. Turkiye is active in this area, with 12 model factories nationwide serving 4,600 firms and supporting about 850 SMEs annually through experiential learning and transformation programs. The workshop will share best practices, offer practical insights, and accelerate capacity building via model factories. It will also promote knowledge transfer and strengthen networks among model/learning factories across APO members
