2019–2022: Dr. Achmad Kurnia Prawira Mochtan

Dr. AKP Mochtan was the 12th Secretary-General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). His three-year tenure commenced on 16 September 2019.

Prior to that appointment, Dr. Mochtan served as Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN. He was conferred a PhD in Philosophy from International Christian University Graduate School of Public Administration, Tokyo, and holds an MA in International Relations from the International University of Japan. His undergraduate degree was in Sociology from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia, Jakarta.

2016–2019: Dr. Santhi Kanoktanaporn

Dr. Santhi Kanoktanaporn was the 11th Secretary-General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). His three-year tenure commenced on 16 September 2016.

Prior to his appointment to the APO, Dr. Kanoktanaporn served as Executive Director of the Foundation for Thailand Productivity Institute (FTPI). He holds a Doctorate in Chemistry from the Sunderland Polytechnic (now University of Sunderland) and a Master’s in Management from Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration, a joint academic venture of Wharton, Kellogg, and Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.

2013–2016: Mari Amano

Mari Amano was the 10th Secretary-General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). His three-year tenure commenced on 16 September 2013.

Prior to his appointment to the APO, Mr. Amano served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Delegation of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament. He holds a Special Diploma in Social Studies from Hertford Collage, University of Oxford, UK, and BA in Economics from the University of Tokyo, Japan.

2010–2013: Ryuichiro Yamazaki

Ryuichiro Yamazaki was the 9th Secretary-General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). His three-year tenure commenced on 16 September 2010.

Prior to his appointment to the APO, Mr. Yamazaki served as the Senior Director, Japan International Labour Foundation (JILAF). He holds a BA in Economics from Hitotsubashi University, Japan, and a BA in the Foreign Service Training Program, Williams College, Massachusetts, USA.

2004–2010: Shigeo Takenaka

Shigeo Takenaka was the 8th Secretary-General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). His six-year tenure commenced on 16 September 2004.

Prior to his appointment to the APO, Mr. Takenaka served as the Ambassador in Charge of Inspection, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Japan. He holds a BA in Law from Hitotsubashi University, Japan, and BA in Political Science, International Relations, from Swarthmore College, Pennsylvania, USA.

1998–2004: Takashi Tajima

Takashi Tajima was the 7th Secretary-General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). His six-year tenure commenced on 16 September 1998.

Prior to his appointment to the APO, Mr. Tajima served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Canada, Union of Myanmmar, and Bulgaria. He completed his studies in the Branch of International Relations, Faculty of Liberal Arts, University of Tokyo, Japan.

1992–1998: Kenichi Yanagi

Kenichi Yanagi was the 6th Secretary-General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). His six-year tenure commenced on 16 September 1992.

Prior to his appointment to the APO, Mr.Yanagi served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Korea, Australia, and Pakistan. He completed his studies in the Faculty of Law, University of Tokyo, Japan.

1987–1992: Nagao Yoshida

Nagao Yoshida was the 5th Secretary-General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). His five-year tenure commenced on 1 August 1987.

Prior to his appointment to the APO, Mr. Yoshida served as the Ambassad or Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Switzerland.

1981–1987: Hiroshi Yokota

Hiroshi Yokota was the 4th Secretary-General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). His six-year tenure commenced on 1 August 1981.

Prior to his appointment to the APO, Mr. Yokota served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Spain, Ecuador, and Honduras. He completed his studies in the Faculty of Law, University of Tokyo, Japan.

1975–1981: Harumi Takeuchi

Harumi Takeuchi was the 3rd Secretary-General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). His six-year tenure commenced on 1 August 1975.

Prior to his appointment to the APO, Mr. Takeuchi served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Italy. He attended Harvard University Graduate School of Arts and Science, Amherst College, USA, and Tokyo University of Commerce, Japan.

1970–1975: Morisaburo Seki

Morisaburo Seki was the 2nd Secretary-General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). His five-year tenure commenced on 11 July 1970.

Prior to his appointment to the APO, Mr. Seki served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mexico, Thaliand, and Spain. He attended Tokyo University of Commerce, Japan.

1961–1970: Ichiro Oshikawa

Ichiro Oshikawa was the 1st Secretary-General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) from 1 June 1961.

Prior to his appointment to the APO, Mr. Oshikawa served as the Director-General, Japan Productivity Center (JPC). He attended Oxford University, UK, and received a BA in Economics from the University of Tokyo, Japan.
