| Title | Productivity Transformation in SMEs: Case Studies from Sri Lanka |
| Author(s) | Hideyuki Ezaki |
| Description | Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are essential to the Sri Lankan economy, but they face challenges relating to productivity and quality. To address these challenges, the APO Secretariat and the National Productivity Secretariat, Sri Lanka, conducted a Development of Demonstration Companies project from December 2023 to August 2024. Three companies participated in the project and implemented 5S, kaizen, and lean to improve production processes and product quality and become role models for other enterprises. This publication documents the participating companies’ progress as they transitioned from limited awareness of productivity concepts to the successful application of productivity tools and techniques, sharing key takeaways and lessons learned. We hope that it will help companies and organizations across Sri Lanka and in other APO members to duplicate the successes of this project for widespread productivity improvement. |
