Description Although standard public policy tools to guide citizens’ behavior are regulations, incentives, and information, these do not always lead to the desired outcomes. This P-Insights report examines why people may not alter their behavior as intended and explains how behavioral insights can be used to encourage beneficial changes based on real-life examples from Malaysia. It also gives tips on organizing and implementing behavioral insight programs applicable to most countries. The author’s experience in developing policy based on behavioral insights, designing training courses on the topic, and serving as a trainer will interest those working in a variety of fields.
