The Asian Productivity Organization (APO) has recently supported the Government of Malaysia in the comprehensive review of the Malaysia Productivity Blueprint (MPB), reaffirming the APO’s commitment to advancing productivity growth across the Asia-Pacific region.
The MPB, initially launched in 2017, serves as Malaysia’s national strategy to drive productivity enhancement across key economic sectors and enablers. Recognizing the evolving global landscape and the need to future-proof productivity policies, the Malaysian government engaged the APO’s technical expertise to conduct a detailed evaluation of the blueprint’s achievements, challenges, and future directions.
The revised MPB is a comprehensive and forward-looking document shaped by rigorous analysis and broad stakeholder engagement. It begins with a review of Malaysia’s productivity journey, analyzing past performance and identifying lessons learned. The blueprint then presents an evidence-based assessment of national and sectoral productivity trends, benchmarked internationally, and integrates insights from extensive consultations with government, industry, and academia. Case studies from nine key economic sectors, or productivity nexuses, further illustrate successful initiatives and practical lessons, grounding the blueprint in real-world application.
The review exercise emphasized Malaysia’s strong commitment to productivity-led economic growth and demonstrated the value of international collaboration in shaping dynamic and resilient policy frameworks. The APO’s assistance also underscores its ongoing efforts to support member economies in developing and enhancing national productivity strategies.
