Global Agro-Industries Forum in 2008, 8–11 April 2008, New Delhi

9 Jan 2008

The APO endeavors to collaborate with international organizations in its pursuit of productivity improvement in the Asia-Pacific region. The collaboration between the APO and FAO to promote agricultural productivity has a long history. Accordingly, we are pleased to announce the Global Agro-Industries Forum in New Delhi, 8−11 April 2008, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the Government of India for wider dissemination of this useful information among member countries and elsewhere in the region.

The FAO, UNIDO, IFAD, and Government of India joined forces to organize the first Global Agro-Industries Forum (GAIF) in New Delhi, 8–11 April 2008. The GAIF will bring together 500 senior representatives from ministries of agriculture and industry, other UN agencies, civil society organizations, agroindustry specialists, and private-sector food industry leaders. The forum will promote dialogue on strategies for developing competitive agroindustries that contribute to poverty reduction. It will feature success stories and winning strategies that include small-scale farmers and reinforce collaboration among all stakeholders from local to global levels, as well as in both the public and private sectors.

Only national delegations and international organizations may register for the GAIF. Those interested may apply to the Ministry of Agriculture or Industry in their country of citizenship to be included in the national delegation.
