Secretary-General Indra pays courtesy call on TECRO Representative Hsieh

2 Nov 2022

Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Secretary-General Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata made a courtesy call on Representative Frank Chang-Ting Hsieh of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in Japan on 28 October 2022. They exchanged ideas on potential fields for collaboration between the ROC and other APO members and how the APO Secretariat could be of assistance. Recognizing the importance of human capital development, they shared the view that more meaningful exchanges on capability building could strengthen the connections among APO members and advance national development with stronger social impact.

Taking the ROC’s supply and donations of masks during the outbreak of COVID-19 as an example, TECRO Representative Hsieh stated that the ROC remained ready to support and collaborate with members of the global community. The ROC had also gained a reputation as a reliable partner in providing technical assistance, technologies, and products such as photovoltaics and semiconductors. He believed that the APO could offer more opportunities for exchanges among its members to build the capabilities of talent, especially the youth, in the region.

Secretary-General Indra expressed his appreciation for the ROC’s constant, solid support and believed that the APO network could help to increase the visibility of the ROC and its core values and contributions. In ending their meeting, Secretary-General Indra and Representative Hsieh reaffirmed their commitment to more collaboration and close communication.
