INTRODUCTION
Green Productivity (GP) has been increasingly applied in the
communities during the past few years. One important GP option
that has been adopted in many communities in the APO member
countries is installation of biogas, which serves a dual purpose
of waste disposal and fuel generation – especially for household
cooking. It also helps in reducing the green house gas emissions
by way of reducing coal or wood burning for cooking.
The manual is developed as a practical guide for communities and
households to construct, install and maintain a biogas plant as
a GP option for communities. The manual provides an
Overview of GP for Community Development, which is followed by a
review of various types of Bio-gas Technologies.
The core of the manual includes the practical topics of
construction and Operation of Bio-gas Reactors, which is based
on the experiences gained in the APO's successful demonstration
projects in the region.
