Dear Mr. Hoang Van Phong, Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Dear Mr. Shiego Takenaka, Secretary General of the Asian Productivity Organization, Honored delegates and guests,Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today, Heads of 19 National Productivity Organizations and the Secretariat of the Asian Productivity Organization-APO are in Hanoi to evaluate what we did last year and plan for strategic missions coming in the next period.
In the opening ceremony, it is our honor to welcome Mr. Hoang Van Phong, Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, representative of the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to deliver the Opening speech for the Workshop Meeting.
On behalf of the National Productivity Organization of Vietnam, I would like to warmly welcome delegate groups from NPOs of member countries, the APO’s Secretariat, representatives of international organizations in Vietnam, those of governmental agencies and all guests who are attending the Opening Ceremony of the 48th Workshop Meeting of Heads of NPOs, which lasts from 16th to 18th in Hanoi.
In past years, the APO has achieved significant contribution to the socio-economic development of nations in Asia-Pacific region through a great deal of activities in terms of productivity and quality enhancement, environment protection and community development. On the other hand, APO is also and important bridge connecting regional members and other international organizations, which help expand opportunities for corporation and socio-economic development of every country in the region. In order to effectively fulfill roles and missions, the APO Secretariat, headed by the APO’s Secretary General and NPOs of member countries have shown great effort for the joint development of all nations in the region.
Vietnam is now on its rapid development process, the Government has considered the improvement of productivity and product quality as a strategic issue in order to enhance the competitiveness and performance of enterprises and of the whole economy. The Minister of Science and Technology is leading the Directorate for Standards and Quality, the National Productivity Organization to implement a long-term project on the enhancement of productivity and quality until 2015. I strongly believe that Vietnam will continually contribute to APO’s activities in the future and in return, I do expect the support and encouragement of the APO and NPOs of member countries.
In this important Workshop Meeting, the Heads of NPOs will resume the discussion on APO’s operation strategy and the roles of NPOs to meet the coming requirements and challenges raised from the economic development in the region and the world. I know you spend most of the time for the meeting but I still do hope that you can save the time to discover Vietnam, a country of old-traditional culture and warm hospitality.
With the great appreciation of the APO’s contribution to the regional economic development, I would like to official announce the Opening of the 48th Workshop Meeting of Heads of NPOs. And I sincerely wish all honored delegates good health, enjoyable time in Vietnam and most of all, a great success of the Workshop Meeting.
