Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Japan promotes entrepreneurship and proactive learning for potential young entrepreneurs. As special event during the 2008 GEW Japan, a one-day lecture will be held in Tokyo on 19 November.
GEW started in 2004 when then-Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown of the UK proposed collective promotion of entrepreneurship. GEW was expanded to include Entrepreneurship Week USA 2007 upon the successful initiative of Mr. Karl Schramm, CEO of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation based in the USA.
Carrying on the GEW initiative, the Honda Foundation (HOF), which promotes “Innovation and Entrepreneurship,” was given the role of host organization for GEW Japan from 17 to 23 November 2008 by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
This special event on 19 November will provide a forum for potential entrepreneurs and those who want to start businesses to learn about the basic concepts involved and various options and opportunities for entrepreneurial initiatives through presentations by and interactive discussions with successful entrepreneurs and specialists. The lecture will be followed by a presentation on the “Elevator Pitch Contest” with original video clips of entrepreneurial ideas submitted by students and the award ceremony featuring the three finalists.
Because the main objective of GEW Japan is to promote entrepreneurship among the general public, we would like to invite those interested in starting entrepreneurial businesses to register for this event. Please send your application by fax or e-mail by 31 October 2008 (Friday).* All lectures will be in English.
*Only those who receive confirmation of registration confirmation can attend.
