Positions Open at the Secretariat

The APO Secretariat, based in Tokyo, Japan, is currently seeking qualified, highly motivated candidates for the following positions:

A) Communications Officer, Administration and Finance Department, with the following general duties:
General Duties:
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of the Administration & Finance Department to drive strategic communications and public relations initiatives to increase the visibility and stakeholder awareness of the organization. The Communications Officer is responsible for managing and monitoring the impact of communication programs and public relations initiatives as well as managing APO information resources and its publications.

B) Accountant, Administration and Finance Department, with the following general duties:
General Duties:
Under the overall direction of the Director, Administration & Finance Department, and the direct supervision of the Administration & Finance Officer, the Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to evaluate data and prepare sections of financial reports and statements in an accurate, timely manner and ensuring the processing of payments and the application of appropriate accounting control procedures.

C) Project Assistant, (Agriculture, Industry, and R&P Departments) with following general duties::
General Duties:
A Project Assistant is responsible for assisting the department in the preparation, implementation, and completion/settlement of projects and for performing other administrative or secretarial duties. Under the overall direction of the Departmental Director and the direct supervision of a Program Officer, the Project Assistant is expected to provide these services in an effective, efficient, productive manner to ensure that the operations of the APO run smoothly. Understanding that most tasks are interdependent, it is also essential for the Project Assistant to communicate effectively and cooperate with other staff to achieve optimal outcomes. The Project Assistant is also expected to cooperate with a Coordinator in general administration affairs and to perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Officer, Director, or Secretary-General..

Salary Level:
A competitive salary and benefits package based on experience is offered.

Classification:
Above A) Professional Category.
Above B) and C): General Service Category (local recruitment).

Term:
Fixed-term appointment for two years, with the possibility of reappointment at the end of the term based on performance and upon mutual agreement.

Candidates must be citizens of APO member countries.
Retirement age at the APO is 60 years.
